The brass tube and music wire are used together to transfer motion from a control panel lever to the railroad turnout. A cam system is incorporated to turn the direction of the motion 90 degrees. I have used this system for about 15 years now on my n-scale layout. I like the feel of being able to throw the turnout switch without electronics or touching it directly.

My local hobby shop sells your products but they don't always have .0010 thickness so I found your site. I have built model cars for 23 years & I need this brass on this particular car. It's very easy to bend & works very well.

The tubes were bent when the package arrived. It should be inside a plastic tube like it was the case when I bought the same product from another company. The small aluminum tubes were packed in sheets of kraft paper and cardboard which was not enough to prevent the tubes from being damaged during shipping.

Very easy to navigate K&S website, make the purchase, and very quick delivery. I wish the measurements were consistent--some lengths in mm, some in inches. Gauge would be helpful for me, a jewele.

The products are perfect but I had a small problem with the packaging. These brass rods come perfectly straight when manufactured but they were placed in the box wrong. Lots of bubble wrap but the rods were placed right at the top of the wrap, providing no protection from bending if the box is even slightly mishandled. Hence, my rods got bent. If they had been placed in the middle of the wrap they would have been protected. Several rods were bent enough to be unusable for the precision work I do building slot car chassis where the rods must be very straight.
The 1/32" rod is used for axles and steering head pivot on this 1:25 scale chopper. I would prefer the rod to be packaged in a tube, not the sealed card because I have to cut the rod out with a #10 blade or it will bend.
I make a lot of 3D products for O scale trains. Plastic, if it gets warm, it will bend. To minimize this effect I use brass rods inside of some structures to strengthen the design.

I cut up the tube into small sections using a pipe cutter. Then I use the cut portions as part of a microphone assembly.

Box made using art glass and K&S brass. The 1/8 inch brass channel fit very nicely over glass pre wrapped with copper foil tape. Rather proud off the use of a torsion spring inside the hinge to take the weight of the lid. This project is 50 years old. Time to make another. I must add that all the hobby shops have closed around here, now I have to find some more up to date projects.

First project using brass tubing, I used three telescoping sections to form a hinge with piano wire inside to act as a torsion spring for a stained glass box lid. I did this 50 years ago with a modeling saw and a file. Will try again with some better tooling.
